Will Learning the Greek Alphabet Help in Your Study of the New Testament?

If you simply learn the alphabet of a language, you have not learned the language. That is certainly true of Koine Greek, the language in which the New Testament was written.
So, if learning the alphabet is not the same as learning Greek, what possible benefit could there be in simply learning the Greek alphabet?
Good question. And good questions deserve good answers.
Why Greek Studies?

“You don’t have to know the Greek!” is something I’ve been told by many people over time, including gospel preachers, in the context of studying the New Testament. While I do not agree with your “everyday” Christian (if you will) who makes that claim, I at least understand it. But when a gospel preacher boldly proclaims such a thing, that I don’t understand.
